Creating a wikiHow page wasn’t the worst thing ever but it sure had its difficulties. The first difficulty is the fact that our class is an 8 AM so off rip it’s so hard to focus when you can barely stay up, and the lights are always dim since we are in a lab and we just constantly have no energy in the class which made it difficult to understand what was going on. One of the hardest steps to do was the outline, it may sound easy but it was frustrating to be so detailed with something when its so easy to you because you’re a pro at it. For the outline it took MULTIPLE times to fully understand it and grasp around what Professor Pabico really wanted, it was a trial and error process. The topic I chose was “How to doa sleek Bun/Ponytail for Curly Haired girls”. This topic was the top choice because it was based off of personal experience which struck more of an interest because it is relatable and genuine. The topic was genuine in the sense that it is meant to help people who experience the same frustration of how hard it is to achieve this style and letting them know that there is an answer to their problem. This hairstyle has been a routine for years which emphasizes the frustration of making an outline so detailed when its so simple to yourself. Communicating the wikiHow topic wasn’t difficult, simply asked a friend to be sort of like a Barbie doll and proceeded to do the steps of this hairstyle (she had to be a curly haired girl of course). What was really great was that all the materials were obtained easily because it was a personal topic so they were right here, going to the store wasn’t a conflict at all. Also, whoever is interested can simply go on wikiHow and search up many wikiHow’s like “How to do a basic ponytail” to help them with this topic. The process of choosing this topic came with ease because we had support and help from our class environment. Support from the class helped narrow down topics, details, steps and pictures for our wikiHow articles. Support from the class environment also made feelings of worry and frustration come out because it seemed as if this topic compared to everyone else’s wasn’t good enough or wouldn’t have enough detail. Another difficult part was to actually take the photos, this part was difficult because forgetting certain specific steps while taking the actual photos were common and the realization hits once it was time to actually put stuff into place in class. Coding was frustrating due to the fact that every little detail had to be correct even though its process was mostly copying and pasting. Stuff in coding kept going out of place, characters were doubling up, it was a continuous paranoia to make sure that all of the coding was correct. The fact that as a whole we had specific rules of how we couldn’t use “My, I, your “ etc. Was and is VERY difficulty and annoying. It is so hard to find other words to use because being able to use first person would have made this process much easier. In this specific wikiHow there was a constant need to correct all the first person speech. Writing this blog post right now is very difficult. Other than those factors writing a wikiHow was cool because being hands on on Adobe Photoshop was amazing, really felt like an editor. Even though the adobe Photoshop steps were taught too fast since most of us are amateurs it was still very cool. The Photoshop editing wasn’t hard obviously once you really understood the steps, it was pretty fast and easy. Learning how to do all of this makes us excited for what’s next in this process and how much we will learn about web and social media. The actual publishing stage was difficult and still kind of is because the article has not yet passed wikihow’s quality review process which is hard to understand because its been over a week, was under the impression that it would have lasted only a couple of days. Overall the experience was tedious but worth it, finished the project feeling very accomplished and smart because now we could do this and our peers can’t. The experience made us able to add new skills to our resume’s such as new web skills and learning Photoshop.
