Website Blog Post Experience
Making a website in class based on ourselves was very self-promoting. The website itself has ten files that we chose to upload on the site, personally I know I chose my best written work and I also uploaded some of my modeling photos and poetry that I have written myself. I chose to upload diverse files to show that overall, I am a versatile person with many talents. Sharing all of my many talents promotes that I’m a woman of many capabilities. On our site we linked our Twitter, Blog, and personal LinkedIn accounts which tie in to our website of self-promoting and they benefit us by showing our work on other sites. We linked our twitter projects that we did as a class project which also shows more of our work. Social media ties in with our website because it’s just another link to show the work we do and our talents with communications. The experience of the website was frustrating at first due to the fact that we had such little time to know how to do it before CEP week. I honestly thought we weren’t going to get the website done because at the same time we had to work on our video projects. This project required me to use out of class time which was hard to organize with my classmates, to get the first steps of our website project done. Overall this class allowed me to use software’s that I never thought I would use in my life, so using Dreamweaver was obviously something very new. Using Dreamweaver was actually really cool in the process because I felt as if I were a hacker or something of that short with all the coding we had to do. The funny thing about coding is that when I was eleven years old on Myspace I was coding a whole bunch of stuff just for fun and I knew how to do it but in this class I was so fearful because I thought I would never get it perfectly. Organizing the content on my site was probably the easiest part because we had to just copy and paste codes then upload our content. I organized my content in a pattern of “Written work, modeling photo, poetry” I did it that way to have my site look interesting so whoever glances at my site isn’t bored and sees my photos and poetry as something fascinating to look at. Developing the website’s look was easy as well because Maria already had the layout for us so that wasn’t something we had to worry about. With designing the site, we were offered a really quick lesson on how to change the colors and design but we didn’t have any time to actually practice that so I personally left my colors as they were. Overall, this project was really cool to do, I personally wish we did have more time to learn more about designing our sites but they still came out pretty dope.
